In the midst of winter, I found there was,
within me, an invincible summer.

My work is rooted in my belief that people heal and thrive in relationships where we feel understood and accepted as who we are. Opening to our self fully is opening to our inner power to release ourselves from emotional distress. Psychotherapy and career coaching can help people get unstuck from unhelpful traps, and get in touch with opportunities for change, love and success.

As a licensed psychologist in the state of New York, I work with you to understand the “whys” and “hows” of your unique challenges and develop active problem solving. I am empathic, supportive and interactive. I bring in authenticity and candid feedback to our sessions. You can expect to feel empowered to try something new at the end of our sessions.

My approach is integrative with a mindfulness focus. Specializing in working with people who are dealing with relationship, body image or career issues, I find it essential to be open and curious about our moment-by-moment experiences. Being mindful helps us not get caught up by habitual, unproductive ways of reacting, and enjoy meaningful moments that are often buried in our worries and anxiety. I’ll help you develop a regimen of mindfulness practices so you can tune into your inner strengths, master new skills and find different ways of responding to challenges.

I use Psychodynamic Therapy and Multicultural Psychology to understand how past experiences or familial/cultural expectations shape the way you are today. Gaining those insights is particularly important for people who are navigating different, and sometimes competing, cultural expectations – women who are in a male dominant field or balancing multiple roles, immigrants and first-generation individuals, and people who are in an interracial/interethnic relationship. While uncovering thought and behavior patterns that interfere with connection and happiness, we’ll identify goals and develop an action plan for lasting changes.

I teach skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other evidence-based approaches. You’ll learn how to better communicate your needs, improve relationships or free yourself from difficult emotions. My clients often comment on how useful those skills are in helping them deal with day-to-day challenges and stress, as well as developing self-confidence.

I tailor my work to meet your unique needs and goals. I’m bilingual in English and Mandarin and privy to different styles of communication and emotion expression. In supporting my client’s need to travel frequently for work, I also provide teletherapy.

If you are ready to tap into your internal resources and tackle challenges related to relationships, body image, career and balancing cultural/personal expectations, I would love to speak with you. Let’s talk about how working together can help you achieve your desired goals.
